Compaq Presario SR1913WM
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (32-bit)

Is there some reason WD Gold drives wouldn't work on my Compaq Presario SR1913WM?

WD Techsupport (and I) think the answer is no, but I'm just checking because I've been having issues.

I truly don't ask that anyone spend the time...but in case someone would like details:

I won't have time to fully test the issues soon; I have done a good deal of testing then got interrupted; I haven't ruled out that maybe I 'just' have a bad onboard SATA port.

With a new 2TB WD Gold today:

Win8.1 goes
DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION Blue Screen, with a Bug Check code of 0x00000133
when I try to format it (Quick or Full) MBR/NTFS.

WD DOS diagnostics 5.27 booted from USB crashed twice, then passed it.

With a 12TB Gold (I formatted/tested ON ANOTHER even older PC) a couple months ago it started to have write failures about 1/3 full. (It's now in the older PC writing and testing AOK.)

I also had an issue with 6TB WD Blacks (2 failed CHKDSK "The second NTFS boot sector is unwriteable.", only one of which also failed HDD diagnostics); as before on the same port (it's a backup destination so until now I've been reluctant to change port, and I don't know when I'll have time to do further testing).

This PC has WD Blacks of 2TB and 4TB and 4TB running perfectly (the 2TB on another onboard SATA, the 4TB drives on a SATA PCI card).

This PC has also had a variety of other odd, insurmountable issues over the years; I'd love to dump it, but my other PC is an even older 1 core, and it'll be a year before I can buy a new PC (I'm on disability).
