Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a second desktop all in one HP PC 23-p017c  and am wanting to update the bios for starters, the original bios that are installed on the computer are:

BIOS Date:  03/04/2014

BIOS Rev:  LAV v80.08

If anyone has any helpful suggestions that I might be able to use to update the BIOS would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jeffrey

Hello
the update should not be done without reason, it is risky
You indicate windows 10, know that if this is the case, there is no update indicate for this system
You will find the bios version, under windows 8
So you might not be able to update, although many users have been successful after just following this recommendation.
Right click on the downloaded file, run as administrator
the other possibility, a little restrictive, would be to go back to windows 8

I have no problem reverting back to windows 8 to do the update on the bios, however, I really would like to update the bios and see if there is any way to enable the Trusted Platform Module so that I can also upgrade to Windows 11 when it is available

my biggest concern is that my pc is ready for the new operating system that windows is coming out with this fall windows 11

the official version of windows 11 at the time of writing this answer has not yet been released, unless I'm mistaken!
Don't rush, any new version has these problems, wait at least a little bit before you start
Check everywhere if there are problems after installation or not!
For tpm 2.0, there are many sites that are starting to talk about it.
You can start by checking the general compatibility with the microsoft tool
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11
https://aka.ms/GetPCHealthCheckApp
another tool given by the expert @WAWood gives more information (thanks to him for this find
https://github.com/rcmaehl/WhyNotWin11/releases

for TPM 2.0 to be activated with bios uefi, if it is possible
"In the search box or with the Windows + R key combination, we type tpm.msc."

look at the bottom, where the TPM version is shown. If we see version 2.0, our computer should be compatible with Windows 11 in this section.

update

I read that it would be more or less possible to add a module, but nothing concrete, nothing found for the moment
The security module, being generally integrated into the processor, there is no way to change this for many computers, incompatible processors!
The requirements for windows 11 may change, in the meantime avoid spending unnecessary money.

Updating the bios, will not change the tpm problem

When I type in tpm.msc the following comes up

compatible TPM cannot be found on this computer, make sure to verify that the computer had at least 1.2 tpm turned on in the BIOS

I gave you all the answers
If you want to update the bios, do as you prefer
but for the tpm, see as indicated, your computer, is certainly not compatible with 2.0
