boots to safe mode

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my desktop boots to safe mode.  I have a Windows 10 Media USB I dOwnloaded from MS.  I can boot from it.  NoT sure what to do with it - don't want to erase all my apps.  I can't seem to Recover from Restore point - says none exist.  If I choose INSTALL IT, will my apps be uninstalled?

boots to safe mode

Hi @Ellen99,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

I understand your computer boots up to safe mode.

Don't worry I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Let me know the product details.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your laptop?

Run a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware components on your PC are functioning correctly.

Click here and run system diagnostics on your PC.

If the diagnostic test passes try to boot into BIOS and try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.

Turn on your PC keep tapping the F10 key, you will boot into BIOS.

From the main or file menu select restore defaults.

Select F10 to save changes and exit.

Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve.

Said that, if I have helped you resolve the issue.

Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'

Have a great day Ahead!
