device recognition by HP Support Assistant

HP Recommended
Pavilion Elite m9400f
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I clean installed Windows 10 into a Pavilion Elite m9400f which was still using Vista Home Premium. The machine was way past warranty and no longer supported. When I reinstalled HP Support Assistant, It identified My desktop as a printer. I can manually add my pc from my profile but Support Assistant doesn't send updates to it and i can't remove the printer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Support Assistnant but every time it is identified as the same printer. How can I remove the erroneous printer and recognise the Pavilion as My desktop?

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Uninstall HP Support Assistant (HPSA).

HP does not support W10 on your PC.

HPSA will never give you any updates.

Hi.

I clean installed W10 on this machine after my own research. It has excelled save for one missing function designed for Vista, "Easy Backup". HPSA doesn't recognise the identity of the computer but knows everything else and knows that it is in my profile. I just can't get all of it's identity together as one item.

Hi Mac,

Give it up.

HPSA is a useless process consuming valuable resources.

HPSA is DOA on W10 .
