Pavilion 27xi
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a Pavilion 27xi backlit monitor.  This is the best monitor I have ever used and after 2 years, this is the first problem I have experienced.

The brightness level just dropped significantly.  On a scale of 1 to 10, the brightness has been about a 10.  Then, all of a sudden, the brightness dropped to about a 4.

The brightness is set at 90%.  But, it sure isn't nearly as bright as it has been for the past two years.

I did a factory reset, this changed nothing.  Is there a lamp that needs to be replaced?

Greetings!

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I have reviewed your post and I understand, there is an issue with the brightness.

Don't worry I'm here to help. To better assist you -

1) Have you tried connecting the computer to an alternate monitor?
2) Have you tried alternate cables?

In the meantime, let's try these steps -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
4) Plug-in the Adapter.
5) Try to turn on the computer.

Once the computer is back on again, try these steps to adjust the brightness -

1) Right click on the Start or Windows icon and open Control Panel.
2) Click on Hardware and Sound.
3) Click on Power Options.
4) Look for Screen Brightness located at the very bottom of the screen.
5) Move the slider to adjust the brightness.

Let me know how that goes.
