Problem with wireless adapter or access point
05-26-2018 09:29 AM

Hi there,
I am having an issue with my pc when I turn on my pc the network symbol is grey with a red "X" circle. When I go to troubleshoot it comes with "Problem with wireless adapter or access point". When I try to connect to my Internet, it doesn't show up any internet modems and it just says "No wifi networks found".
Please help,
Shaq

Hi
Best to establish if you have a working adapter first...
This short script is to gather information on some parts of your system
OS, Networking Hardware and Software etc.
Copy and paste the section between the ~~~~ lines, into NotePad.
Save as CF4.bat somewhere easily accessible. Double click to Run
Then run as Administrator to create the output files if desired.
The output files can be edited to remove SENSITIVE details before posting.
Delete the output files immediately after use.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@ECHO OFF
getmac
systeminfo
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter"
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter -Name * | Format-Table -View Driver"
PowerShell -Command "GIP -Detailed"
PowerShell -Command "Test-NetConnection"
PAUSE
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter > C:\GNA.txt"
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter -Name * | Format-Table -View Driver > C:\GNB.txt"
PowerShell -Command "GIP -Detailed > C:\GNC.txt"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The output I would like to see is like this...
Name InterfaceDescription ifIndex Status MacAddress LinkSpeed
---- -------------------- ------- ------ ---------- ---------
Ethernet Realtek PCIe FE Ethernet 9 Disconnected AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-A8 0 bps
Bluetooth Bluetooth Device 17 Disconnected AA-AA-AA-AA-AA-A7 3 Mbps

WiFi Realtek RTL8723BE 802 rtwlane.sys 2017-05-03 2023.54.33... 6.70
Which shows 3 devices, Ethernet, Bluetooth and WiFi, their status in terms of speed and installed driver.
The ping to...

Hi
It says you dont have a Working WifI or Bluetooth. AND the Ethernet is also OFF.
So is there an Aeroplane Mode (Flight Mode ON)?
Mine is F12 and with my FLIGHT MODE ON I get similar results.
So Model and OS with SKU please.
The results show an Adapter Present and a driver to suit.

Hi
I dont know which OS you are using...

I'm on 1803. So your Intel Driver should reflect that.
And I think the date of yours is 2017-10-30
The current one is - Jan 17, 2018

Hello,
Unfortunately, this hasn't solved the problem, my BIOS was 82F1 and I installed the BIOS and Downloaded All the Internet Drivers and this still hasn't solved the problem.

Hi
So now the batch file should show a different driver when run again.

No need to post it, but just compare. NEXT is the assumption that there is viable Adapter.

Same principle RUN it, concentrating on the Letters K,L,M,N AND O.
Then try LETTERS X and Y, you can go thru A to Z if you want.
Letter A is to test the adapter.
Press A-Z, and then ENTER:a

Hi,
This still hasn't solved the problem.
In the CF4.bat file, it still says I cannot connect to internetbeacon.msedge.net and I did the new .bat file from A-Z and it did not fix it, what shall I do now?
05-28-2018 07:13 AM

Hi
Without any more definitive evidence that the adapter is active and configured, like the listing from ipconfig -all I am out of ideas on how I can help.
Someone else may have better ideas.
I would remove the Adapter card and reboot. Clear as much of it's config as possible.
Shutdown. Re-Insert the Adapter into the Main Board and start again.
Then repost your problem.
