What is the actual error message?

"the IP unrecognizable" is not an error message that I a have ever seen.

If your wifi adapter is having issues, try reseating the PCIe half-length mini card adapter in its slot, uninstall the driver and then reinstall it.  Now try connecting to the desired SSID again.

Is you desktop PC still in warranty?

Well if you won't don't want to do  it, you are going to have to pay someone else to troubleshoot it or use a workaround.

Troubleshooting devices is pretty hands-on.

You could purchase a USB wireless adapter and use that.

Get one that is supported by your operating stystem and is at least 802.11b/g/n capable.

That is a cheap workaround.

See the NewEgg.com selection at the link below.  The Alf -Alfa-N USB adapter would be a good choice. I have one that I use for my Synology NAS.
