Dual processor configurations with memory modules installed on Z820

Good evening, what happens if installed memory modules does not correspond the order recommend by HP for 48GB with 2 processors. Will it affect performance or other ?

Thank you.

Re: Dual processor configurations with memory modules installed on Z820

These workstations can be fine-tuned for fastest performance, and HP has provided guidelines that vary depending on whether you have one or two processors installed.  The % speed benefit would be something that a HP engineer could address, but I don't believe that they would provide these guidelines if the improvement was insignificant.

Attached to this post is the HP Z820 Memory Configuration Guide, and there are similar documents for the other Z workstatons.  Here is the source:

You'll see that there are Fair, Good, Better and Best configurations, and that all has to do with how fast your memory will perform.  You can also see "The speed of the memory will be 1333MHz", which I believe indicates that 1600 MHz memory will be throttled to the lower speed.

Here is more on the Z workstation memory, also attached below:

If you want the fastest performance go for the "Best" configuration.
