RashaAtyaa,

The Quadro M5000 should  work in a z800 and there are users running Maxwell GTX GPUs.  Still checking the 666 Passmark Performance Test Results for the z800, it's odd that there is no listing for the M5000, M4000, nor M2000.  However there are results for Kepler series cards (K4000, K5000, and K6000).  It may be that the Quadro M5000 was released years after the z800 and was quite expensive - US $1,900 and z800's when depreciated three years would not have been subjects for that level of investment.

I should contact HP support or perhaps someone from HP will please comment here.

On a related subject, be aware that there is a new series of Pascal Quadros.  I was an early buyer of the P2000 5GB and the 3D results can be better than for the M5000 for far less cost:

HP z420 (2015) (Rev 5) > Xeon E5-1660 v2 (6-core @ 3.7 / 4.2GHz)  / 32GB DDR3 -1866 ECC RAM  / Quadro P2000 (4GB) / HP Z Turbo Drive M.2 256GB AHCI + Intel 730 480GB (9SSDSC2BP480G4R5) + Western Digital Black WD1003FZEX  1TB> Creative SB X-Fi Titanium + Logitech z2300 2.1 speakers  > 600W PSU > Windows 7 Professional 64-bit > 2X Dell Ultrasharp U2715H  (2560 X 1440)
[ Passmark Rating = 5920 > CPU= 15129 / 2D= 855 / 3D= 8945 / Mem= 2906 / Disk= 8576]  [6.12.16]  Single-Thread Mark = 2322 [4.20.17]

HP z620_2 (2017) > Xeon E5-1680 v2 (8-core@ 4.1GHz)  / 64GB DDR3-1866 ECC Reg / Quadro P2000 5GB / HP Z Turbo Drive M.2 256GB + Intel 730 480GB + Seagate Constellation ES.3 1TB / ASUS Essence STX PCIe sound card / 825W PSU / Windows 7 Prof.’l 64-bit  > 2X Dell Ultrasharp U2715H  (2560 X 1440) / Logitech z2300 2.1 Sound

[Passmark Rating = 6166 / CPU rating = 16934 / 2D = 820 / 3D= 8849 / Mem = 2991 / Disk = 13794] 4.24.17   Single Thread Mark = 2252

On Passmark results, the average 3D Mark for the Quadro M5000 is  8506. The average for the P2000 is 8652, making the P2000 as fast as a GTX 1060, faster than GTX Titan Black, Quadro M5000, and Quadro K6000.   In HP systems (10 tested) the range of 3D marks for the Quadro M5000 is 7241 (z600 / 2X X5670) to 10797 (z240/ i7-6700K). The z240 results is the second highest of any result for the Quadro M5000.

The very good news concerning the P2000 is that my cost in the U.S. was $412 which = less than 1/4th the cost of a new M5000.  Also, the P2000 only uses 75W, and therefore does not need an  auxiliiary power connection. a Quadro P4000 (US $ 850) is close (10591) to being as fast as a GTX Titan X (10657) and is faster than a Quadro M6000- $5,000 (9421). Of course, those cards will have a benefit from having considerably more memory if the use is video processing / animation.

Be sure that the BIOS and chipset driver is the latest version to use any Maxwell, Kepler, and especially Pascal GPU.

Again, I hope someone from HP will copmment on Maxwell and Pascal GPU's in a z800.

Cheers,

BambiBoomZ
