@uwe_schmidt123, I have asked that an HP Agent take a look at your problem.  Since it is a new computer, it needs to get fixed.

I also have the same issue. When I use the 4*8GB RAM, the noise level is normal.

Once the 32GB RAM is installed, the fan makes a lot noise.

Bios upgrade does not help (02.31 Rev.A 9 Jan 2017).

Any update?

Thanks!

This problem of great noise with 32GB DDR4 RAM is still open. I have not yet found any solution. We should ask HP support to take care of the problem.

There's a new BIOS for the Z640 (v2.32 released on 10 April 2017) and in the details it says "improves acoustics with 32GB DIMMs"

I've just installed it on one of our machnes and it does seem to have helped so it's got to be worth a try.

Seems weird that changing the amount of RAM makes any difference to fan speed but I'd guess that's just the weirdness of HP software!
