Why does the forum consider me a visitor when I have a logon to the forums?

This ranking as Visitor, Masters Graduate, Honor Student, etc. is all based on the no. of posts you have in the forums. once you cross 10 posts(i think), it'll change.

Dexter is mostly right. At the earlier ranks, it is dependent on number of posts as he has figured out. However, at the higher ranks it becomes more complicated as Kudos and Accepted Solutions becomes part of the equation as well.

Sounds confusing though for a first timer. I mean, what's the relevance of being a visitor, masters student, etc.?

I'm also a member of another interesting forum and they have a different way of ranking posters. Anyway, I'm only a rookie here and still roaming around for support and community.

Sorry but you didn't get my point. I know both are different from one another.

They're just titled, mostly-- something to put besides the basic Newbie, New Member, Member, Guru, whatever-- something different. 🙂
