At night it isn't of a problem, the led lighting is bright enough, but during the day, I can barely see the letters on keys oo the keyboard light. I didn't have this at the beginning, but only until I uninstalled some default programs for the omen laptop. I tried downloading them again but I can't seem to find them anywhere, not even on the product page. Software meant for other Omen laptops also didn't fix the issue. A bios update also gave me not the desired result.

It seems my keyboard brightness is at about 50% or less, and it is a bit frustrating. Is there a way to increase the brightness?

Hello @deSenna24

"Is there a way to increase the brightness?"

Nope, none what so ever. The keyboard backlight on your Omen AX series only has a switch (Fn+F5) that's either On or Off.

There is no Omen Control Center for that series that will install and change the keys either. That type of software will only work on certain models.

What default programs did you uninstall exactly when this phenomenon occured?

I don't know of any program that would affect the backlight brightness since its only on or off.

The HP System Event Utility will affect the programing of the F keys. Did you by chance uninstall that?

If so, you can reinstall it and see if it helps.

Here is the downloads page for your model.

I know on my Omen W200 series which is like yours, the brightness is not very much. Its dim in a well lit room.

If you feel there may be a physical issue with that keyboard, I would contact HP Support for warranty help (assuming its still under warranty).
