OMEN by HP 15-dc1066tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Omen laptop restarts when I close the lid. Despite changing the settings in control panel on what it should do when I close the lid and using the powercfg command to turn off hibernation when I close the lid the laptop automatically restarts.

I suggest using the Windows Event Viewer to see if any  errors are reported at the time of the restart.

There is a critical error from source of Kernel-power and says "The system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.".

Any suggestion how to solve this??

Is your notebook still in warranty?

I suggest using the Hp PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility to test the system board. Update the BIOS  and chipset drivers as well.

Please keep me in the loop by providing results of the tests you perform.

This has happened to others, although not many,  and generally it is either a display driver, BIOS issue, chipset driver or a motherboard  issue.

Updating the BIOS solved it for a about 2 weeks but I'm still going through the same thing. And the warranty for the device has expired!
