OMEN by HP - 17-an005nm
Microsoft Windows 11

I want to upgrade my HP OMEN 17-an005nm laptop with new m2 ssd, sata3 ssd instead of a hdd and ram. What is the biggest capacity for each of these I can replace. Right now I'm thinking of buying two sticks of ddr4 16gb 2400mhz ram and m2 2tb ssd. I just want to make sure it will work.

Thanks

I'm looking at chapter 1 of the service manual and it indicates that only M.2 NVMe SSD's are supported.

OMEN by HP - 17-an005nm - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

Chapter 1 of the manual indicates that 2 x 16 GB of memory is supported.

There are no programs that I know of that can let you know how large a capacity storage drive you can install.

The drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

The Crucial SSD report for your notebook indicates they offer NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB in storage capacity.

HP - Compaq HP OMEN 17-an005nm | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

Your notebook's M.2 SSD slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

While a Gen 4 SSD will work, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from a Gen 3 slot.

This chart provides the maximum transfer speeds each generation PCIe version provides:
