Pavilion 15t Touchscreen Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Upon using the touchscreen to scroll on websites on the internet, using Chrome, screens will scroll a little bit, then pause, and then scroll again.  It is not a continuous scroll like it was when I first purchased the laptop.  I have another Pavilion 15t that does not have this issue, and performs with continuous scrolling as I slide my finger up and down the screen.  How do I fix this issue?  I have already gone to Update Drivers - HID-compliant touch screen and my laptop is tellingme that "The best drivers for your device are already installed."  I even disabled and then enabled the compliant touch screen.  My Windows 10 is also completely up to date.

@ATK2,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I see from your post you are having issues with the touchscreen not working properly on your HP notebook. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Does it happen while using other applications?

Does it only happen with the chrome browser or with the other browsers?

Have you tried to update the Bios?

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

  1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

For now please try a system restore to a previous good known working date before the issue started and before the updates happened from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545

Please follow the option “Restore your computer when Windows starts normally” and run the system restore. Then check if it works correctly.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the Bios and Chipset drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Once done, restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to run component tests on the touchpad and the touchscreen to from this link and follow the option "Running the UEFI Component Tests ".

If any component fails please make a note of the failure Id or the test results. As this could result in a hardware failure with the PC.

  • If the diagnostics pass, then please follow all the steps from this link.

  • Also under device manager, please expand Human interface devices> right click and uninstall the touchscreen drivers. Please do not delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and check if this does the trick for you.
  • Check if the issue gets resolved. If it does not, please uninstall the touchpad drivers from device manager.
  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand  Mice and other pointing devices>then select all the drivers listed there listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset touchpad and graphic drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers please select the country and type the product# of the computer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts,
