HP laser jet 5L
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hi, Does anybody know what the original design problem was with the"seperation pad "on th 5L. I`m asking becuase the parts are no longer available and If I know what the original design problem was maybe I can fix it.It has been suggested that the rubber pad was too thin and needs to packed out about 2mm?

Any ifo much appreciated.

Regards Johnm

The later replacement parts worked fine and you should be able to source 3rd party replacements still. There are multiple causes of multi-feeding, depending on what the multi-feeding looks like. If many pages are being fed together then you have a separation pad issue. At one point we tried sourcing replacement rubber, but it is difficult to find with the correct profile that allows proper feeding. Also based on age, likely the sub-separation pads are hard, shiny and basically useless as well.
