Product: laserjet 1212 mfp
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Wouldnt connect. Ran print and scan doctor. got advised to uinstall and reinstall. wont reinstall. have tried reinstalling drivers and software. Software extracts but setup never starts. HP smart wont run. Get warning that administrator has block program. I the administrator. tried turning of AV, same result. nonof the items from HP will install. and windows reacts when usb is plugged in but printer is not detected.

Hi Ralph,
Click the Start button and type %temp% into the search bar, then open the shown Temp folder.

Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234)
Double click HpSetup.exe and the installation should now launch.

 

Follow the steps on screen and connect the USB only once the installation guide to do so.

 

If the USB not being recognized even after the installation I suggest trying another USB cable and check.

turned out none  of the 7z files with hpsetup were later than 11/12. I am setting it up with that. Thank you very much for your thoughful reply.

Your solution worked, the problem has been intermitant till today and now it is finally fixed!
