Probook 6460b
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I just want to ask how i can reboot or open my hp probook 6460b , it says that windows failed to start

File:\windows\system32\drivers\volsnap.exe

Status:0xc000000f

Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.

And also i dont know what its BIOS password , it just a gift from my uncle 😞

I hope you can help me with my laptop's problem , since this is my only access to go online class 😞 , thankyou so much in advance. Godbless

The first error means that the Windows file system has been corrupted.

This issue is almost always due to a failing drive.

If your PC is new enough to support UEFI, you can use these steps to test the hard drive: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00439024

If not, to check the drive you have to follow these steps:
1) Press Esc key repeatedly, several times a second, while rebooting the laptop. Do NOT hold the key down, just press it over and over.
2) Eventually, you will see an HP Startup Menu
3) Press the Function key for testing the hard drive (usually F2) and let it run.

As to the second, the BIOS password, We are not permitted to assist in resetting passwords because HP considers that a violation of customer privacy. HP can assist in resetting passwords but if your original warranty has expired, they will charge you for the assistance.
--------------------
For BIOS or power-on password resets, because the password is encoded onto a chip on the motherboard, replacement of that motherboard is required. For more information, read this HP thread: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard, you would have to take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- we can not assist in that in any way.
