Hello,

It's been more than an hour since my laptop restarted after I installed a recommended bios update. The screen is black, keyboard is all lit up and the laptop fans are running like crazy.

I removed the AC adaptor now and tried to do a hard shutdown by pressing down the power button (for more than a minute), but it's not working. The laptop battery is non removable.

I'm scared of my laptop getting bricked. Help!

Hi @baligator

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that the Notebook is not booting up after the BIOS update.

I'd like to help.

We can try a BIOS Roll Back.

Please press and hold the Power Button again continuously for 30 seconds and let me know if it shuts down. Else please unplug the Notebook till the Battery drains out

Once the Notebook is shut down, plug back the AC Adapter, Press and hold Windows logo key  and the B key at the same time.

While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key  and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound.

If this doesn't work, please contact our Phone Support for Service Options.

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.

Thank you.
