I have a HP Spectre 13t-h200 x2 and it’s automatically updated and the last update was a while ago so I do not think the problem is a recent update of the Bios or other – I bought the computer Jan 2014 (ie batteries are 3 years old). I do not work with this laptop but just a few times a week. So here it goes – I was typing a report, everything was fine then the battery low indicator comes on as it has in the past. I worked another minute or so then everything just went dead and it would not come on (no lights completely dead). This was weird because I can normally work a few minutes more without a problem. I figured dead battery and plugged into the charger (the keyboard section with tablet attached) overnight. Next morning, no change all was dead. I disconnect the tablet from the keyboard section and tried to start it again and nothing. I tapped the center “windows” icon at the bottom of the tablet a few times and it then finally lighted up. I hit the start button and the tablet section started up as normal with about 60% battery. Tablet works normally. I then connect the tablet to the keyboard (docking) section and then all immediately dies – stone dead. The entire computer is completely dead. I have another charger I plug it into the (“disconnected” from keyboard) tablet and all worked perfect. I plug the same charger into the keyboard section and nothing, and I then noted the little light next to the charger input is dead as well. Weird right?
Conclusion: Tablet disconnected from the keyboard section works perfectly and when connected to dock – all immediately dies. Also, dock will not react to anything, including the charging input light, all dead. Im thinking maybe the battery is dead in the dock section, unable to take a charge or let the charger work/activate the dock, and needs replacing??? What do you think? And thank you for your help!

so sorry my huge laptop has huge , (bought seperate) large docking station
in your case the word docking is now RE-invented., sorry.
your users guide clearly meantions external option docking attachment.
then one can call that detachable screen from the keyboard base, one might call that docking too.
sure. but those are the HP works its called a KEYBOARD base
reading your service manual there are 2 main batteries.
one in top
1 on bottom
one is bad, and now you know which. ID 11 below., top

always keep the ac pack plugged in at home/work , so you dont short cycle both batteries
and they last far longer.
if not use, store the PC fully charged.
did you know the new batteries have fuse inside now that kills the battery dead
if the charge is allowed to go too low (prevents fires as see on TV)
key them charged! do not let the drop for fun.
if traveling top of at air port ac jacks and the battery will last far far longer.
ignore above if skydiving with PC or deep SCUBA or paddling the Amazon.. (just did)

Thank you for your input and tha link to the Manual!
Note: Tablet works perfectly when NOT attached to the Keyboard sectioln.
BUT - If the tablet is on and working normally, and I then connect it to the Keyboard, everthing immeditely dies / dead and from that point it will not start until I disconnect the tablet from the keybard section and push the start buttom. Note: The keyboard section is always dead (ie no lights / nothing).
So are you saying that what I need to do in order to fix the PC is to replace the battery in the keyboard section with a new battery?
Any other details wold be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

the power busses are shared
if one battery shorts, it will over load the other
the both share the same charger chip in the base
one of the 2 batteries is bad.
seem base , as it is the killer side.
id never own any pc with those thin potato chip batteries.
and 2 wow, double trouble there.
all these parts are non stardard.
you can just plug in a dell base to Hp screen, here.
makes diagosis very very hard,
id be using my voltmeter on the batteries
and unplug plug base battery see if all wakes up.
but most folks want to fix but not open it up. and that be Impossible, right.
like fixing a car engine hood down.
buy a PC next time that batteries just pop out, be 10x better that. insist on it, and if every one did, this design go byebye fast.
all this is for thin and light.
my heavy laptop is feather light no battery and screen
the screen is thick glass and hard to break and my battery is rubust.
thin is not always better, unless deep pockets. imo
