Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My laptop became very slow from last two days. I have two operating systems on it, Ubuntu and windows 8.1 pro . When i ran short dst from boot menu, it showed short dst: failed

Failure ID:Q4X0QM-000A56-XD7WLJ-60S803

PRODUCT ID- M3M85PA#ACJ

I can not change laptop as it has some very official files in Ubuntu. Please help

Sorry, but then you are in serious trouble as that error message means your hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

 

You would need to remove it and connect it, via adapter, to a working PC to recovery any files -- which, I'm guessing, you did not bother to back up.

 

Also, the other PC would have to be able to read Linux files, which as you probably know, Windows can not do.

So sir should I do it on an Ubuntu computer, will it be able to read windows files?

Also sir I am a beginner, so please tell which cable will be used and how will I recover the data on new or same pc again
