My Laptop won't accept my password so i can't log in

Pavilion G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I just tried to login to my HP G6 Pavilion laptop but it won't accept my password.  I have not changed it and I know the password I am using is correct.  I need it urgently but cannot access it.  Can anyone please help?

I meant to point out - after starting up I put in the correct and then it starts the 'welcome' script but then quickly reverts to 'password incorrect'!!

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

If you have access to a working PC and are willing to do a little work you may be able to recover your password, or if that fails, you may be able to reset it.

The recovery tool is known as ophcrack and can be found here: http://www.top-password.com/knowledge/recover-windows-10-password-with-ophcrack.html

This tool does not always work, and if it does not for you, here is an alternative: http://www.iseepassword.com/ophcrack-alternative.html

The reset tool is the Trinity Rescue Kit, and can be found here: http://trinityhome.org/Home/index.php?content=TRINITY_RESCUE_KIT_DOWNLOAD

Once you have the downloaded file, you have a choice of media to create:
1) If you can boot from CD, download and install ImgBurn and use the Write Image to Disk option to create a bootable CD.
2) If you can boot from USB, download and install RUFUS and use the option to create a bootable USB stick from the ISO file.

Once you have the media created, you can read this post for information on how to use it: https://www.lifewire.com/free-windows-password-recovery-tools-2626179

Good Luck
