I'm having problems with my keyboard light since I updated computer this morning. I have tried the F5 and FF separately and together as well as everything I can think of. Please help because I can't even see to type anything and had to get online with a different computer at library. Thanks, Rick

Greetings and Welcome to the HP Support Community. 

 

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you - What's the exact product# of the computer? Refer to this link for steps to find the product details. (Ensure not to share the serial number, email, phone number, etc.)

 

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

 

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Double-click Keyboards.
3) Right click on the keyboard drivers and click on uninstall.
4) Restart the computer. 
 

Also, try updating the computer again -

 

Step 1 Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Click on this link to run Windows Updates troubleshooter.

 

Step 2 Windows Updates - 

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 

 

Step 3 HP Support Assistant Updates - 

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant. 
2) Check for updates. 
3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer. 
 

If the issue still persists, try a system restore -

 

1) Shutdown the computer. 
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears. 
3) Press F11 once for System Recovery. 
4) Choose the Keyboard Layout. 
5) Click on Troubleshoot. 
6) Go to Recovery Manager and click on System Restore. 
7) Choose a Restore point or a Restore date when the computer was working fine. 
8) Click on OK to initialize the System Restore.
