Issues with booting the PC and OS installation problems

HP Recommended
Pavilion G6
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)
I am having problems booting with my PC. At first, I tried all windows recovery options but doesn't help. I always get a blue screen which says 'Your PC ran into a problem' and auto restarts. Later when I ran a quick hard drive test, I got the following feedback. Smart Check: Passed; Short DST: Failed. The failure id is GUW2TQ-6Q68KS-MFPX0K-60XJ03 (note: I may have mistaken the 0 for the O and vice-versa). Product id: D4B09PA#ACJ. I am using a HP Pavilion G6 Notebook PC and the warranty has expired. I have back up discs that I had ordered from HP. Also, I bought the laptop back in India and currently I am living in Germany. I am in urgent need of help. Thank you.

Hard drive has failed.

Have you backed up the data from it?

There are 2 main methods you can try to salvage data from failed hard drive :
1) Create LiveCD from another computer. Boot from this disc in your laptop, then copy the files from failed HDD to another external hard drive connected to notebook.

2) Take out the failed hard drive out. Connect it to another computer using SATA to USB adapter. Use Windows explorer to copy the files you need from HDD to another external hard drive.

After all these,
Replace hard drive. Use HP Recovery media to factory reset after replacement.

You've to replace hard drive with a new one of similar form factor

2.5 inch SATA hard drive

Manual: see hard drive replacement steps

Use recovery media you've ordered from HP to factory reset after replacement of HDD

Or you can go for clean install of Windows 8.1 Single Language 64 bit, by creating UEFI bootable Windows installation USB using Microsoft windows media creation tool

Windows will be automatically activated after installation while connected to internet
