hp folio 9470m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello!

i have a hp elitebook 9470m, until a recent windows update, my fingerprint reader worked fine. (even though the shift to "windows hello" after the windows 10 upgrade was less than smooth!)

i am unable to use the fingerprint reader now. i have tried uninstalling and installing the synaptics WBF fingerprint reader from the HP support page multiple times.

i do have a biometrics node in device manager, but it has only 1 extension -"windows hello face software device". there is no synaptics  sensor

i have checked BIOS as well, and strangely in BIOS>system Configuration>built in devices , the fingerprint reader appears and disappears at its will.  its been a week and i am unable to find a connection between anything i do and the appearance of "fingerprint reader" in BIOS

i have tried a number of solutions posted online. none of them worked for me, even though it would seem that the problem is failry common after windoes 10 update.

thankyou

have a great dayPicture1.png

Edit: attaching BIOS images where fingerprint reader is missing
