Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello!  I’m receiving a message from Windows Reboot Manager with some of the following info:

Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.

The boot configuration data for your PC is missing or contains errors.

Let me start by saying that this computer has been nothing but trouble since I got it about 5 years ago (BRAND NEW).  In March of 2015, I had to have it repaired for a “failed partition”.  It cost me $250 and I had barely even had the device a year.  Once I received my device back, it still wasn’t working so I had to then order a new adapter.  Now it appears that due to this configuration issue I will be out of more money because something is going on with the software.  Not to mention, I’m also receiving a message at startup about the storage capacity of my battery, a very COMMON issue with HP.  Should I even bother trying to fix this configuration issue and purchase a new battery or just toss this thing out?  Please be honest.
