I want to reset my detachable because it became extremely slow and for some reason the windows time doesn't keep up (as if the processor ticks to slowly).
However, every form of windows recovery method fails to reset the PC. Usually it starts resetting the PC and after about 30% (and one hour of working) it suddenly says it encounters an error and rolls everything back.
When I tried to reinstall windows from a USB stick it told me it couldn't install windows on the existing windows partition.
Any clue what is going on here?
Best,
Jan

Hi Sandytechy,
before I tried your advice, windows forced an update and this time it went through. Afterwards I was able to factory reset the device so that problem is done.
Just fyi: I had done the bios-checks earlier and they all came back fine.
I am completly unsure what changed, maybe windows got their update routine in order.
Thank you anyways.

Welcome to HP support community.
Reset a laptop
-
Turn off the computer.
-
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
-
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
-
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
-
For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
-
Plug the AC adapter back into the laptop computer, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
-
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
The computer starts normally or a startup menu opens.
NOTE:
If your computer does not start after pressing the Power button, then a power reset did not resolve the startup issue. SeeAdditional resources for further troubleshooting steps.
-
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
-
After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.
Run Extensive system test to check for hardware failures.
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.
5. Click Run once, or Loop until error. While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.
