Hello Federico77,

 

 

Whenever the Hard Disk Short/Long DST test fails that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive has failed and that requires a replacement to resolve the issue

 

HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby

 

Please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)

 

Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files. You can also refer to the below shown link for further support

But the error message concerned the battery test

I suspected it could be the battery or the harddrive as both gives similar failure ID's

I should have asked you before as you had not mentioned about what failure Id that was !! 

 

Anyways, Seems battery has gone bad and needs replacement .

Battery warranty is one year from the laptop date of purchase.

If your unit is under warranty, HP will replace it for free. If not you will have to buy one.

isn't under warranty. I'll try to replace the battery. Strange because the problem arose after updating to windows 10

With hp assistant gives me "battery ok", using the Bios utility gives me the error posted above. The battery is fixed at 8%, plugged in but not charging

Hello Federico77,

 

 

Please perform below shown steps to resolve the issue:

Step 01. Click on the Start Button

Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager

Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left

Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall

Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again

Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook

Step 06. Please remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter

Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute

Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter

Step 09. Look for "Plugged In Charging" message on the Battery icon

 

 

Update the latest BIOS for your Notebook from HP Support Site and try caliberating again.
