I recently bought my laptop used, the person did a fresh install or wipe, it worked fine with Windows 10 for a couple weeks, then after a Windows Update I can't get it to fully boot. F9 is the only screen I can get into during boot, which doesn't help. F10, F11, F8, none work. I get to a Windows screen, it says we'll take it from here, we're doing updates then I get
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. "
Anybody know anything I can do, or do I have to buy Windows again?

You can reinstall W10 for free at any time by using the Media Creation Tool at the link below.
The utility will allow you to make either a bootable W10 installation flash drive (you will need an 8 GB flash drive for this), or save an ISO file that you can burn to a DVD.
If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation, check the 'Skip' box, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Then you can install any drivers and available software you need from your notebook's support page.
