Hello,

I never had a problem before version 1809 was downloaded, I usually had Microsoft provide the updates to my drivers.  Well, they are not working and creating problems with my notebook.

I went to https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-f100-notebook-pc/7280521/model/7479934?sku=J9... to see if I could find some information and maybe track down the latest version but the information is incorrect. 

Alps Touchpad Driver - Notebook has a Synaptics PS/2 Touchpad (not listed)

Firmware - Hitachi Hard Drive Firmware Update - Notebook has a Seagate (not listed)

With the above difference, how do I know if the other drivers are the right ones. 

So how do I find the correct information to try and fix my notebook.

Thanks but I have installed version 1803 and all drivers are working.  I will wait to upgrade when/if HP decides to create drivers for my model of notebook.  Since there are none available for version 1809 or 1903, I will probably be waiting a long time.

Short term answer is

I would put the SKU into hp.partsurfer and it will tell you what the build of the PC is/was.

 

Currently away from base and cannot really follow up.

So it came with W8.1 which lists the Drivers.

The W10 does not seem to.

Which means that you may want to look here....

OR wait until new drivers are released which may be easier.

Thanks for the reply but that really doesn't help,  Microsoft is the one that started all the problems.  Was hoping I could find the Softpaq number that related to my notebook. 

 

Guess, no answer on firmware, Seagate.

Why would a Hitachi firmware update be relevant?

Sorry, I thought I mention the problem I am having - here goes:

I am typing along and all of sudden I lose the ability to type.  No keyboard action, light on keyboard still work but nothing else. 

Mouse still function.  Touchpad still function. 

I then proceed to restart the computer and it just shows the spinning circl

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.
Rinse and Repeat

AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

Sorry again, it stopped me from finishing my text. 

I have tried all that you suggested.  All test stated pass.  Tried the reset more than once. 

I can restart and shut down normal when I can type but as soon as the ability to type stops, restart and shutdown, I receive the spinning circle and notebook and will not go any further. 

Very confusing.
