I saw to press the esc button util the bios screen comes up but i dont really know what to do from there.

I tried system recovery and it ended up finishing with a black screen

Can you please help me?

Hi! @M1000, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues booting into your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

As you mentioned when you boot your PC the laptop freezes at hp logo screen.

Try restoring the BIOS to default and check if it helps.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Also, try performing a hard reset and check if it helps.

To perform a power reset on a laptop with a removable battery, use the following steps:
Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
With the battery and power cord unplugged, press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the laptop, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.
Your laptop has been reset. After a power reset, it is a good idea to run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers. See Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 😎 and Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7) for more information.

Hello

Thank you very muc h for helping me.

I have the product number but I didnt think it would be neccessary. It is E8A81UA#ABL

Pressing F10 did not being up the Bios menu.

But I repeatedly pressed Esc (that I had read about) and the option to go to the Bios menu came up.

I followed the directions and it ended up at the hp logog screen with the circling dots below it. I left it but 10 minutes later, it was still there

I tried the hard reset and the screen eventually went black after the logo screen had appeared

Thaks for your help with this. I hope you can help me solve this

Bye

Mark

Hi

I didnt have much luck.

I did manage to get to the administartor / username screen but I dont remember the passwords so that was a dead end.

I ran diagnostics and I got this:

Failure id: 6AKS28-6SF8R3-MFPWWK-6OVE03

Product id: E8A81UA#ABL

I dont know if that helps.

I am at the automatic repair screen but that has gone no where.

I have ended up on the hp screen / rotating circle screen several times

Hi

A Lo-Cost/No-Cost possibility is

BIOS boot order and SECURE/LEGACY options may need changing.

You can get to a Command Line and should be able to view your C:\ and from there perhaps copy off your data (Users) onto a large USB stick, just in case a re-install is required.

If in doubt please ask.
