I spilled water on my laptop and it damaged my motherboard. My warranty expired but I’m afraid if I extend warranty, the damage may not be covered. What should I do?

It does make sense. My suggestion: replace the System Board, this may cost you very close to the price of a new machine because you can only keep RAM and HDD, you have to pay for new CPU and new license of Windows.

You need part # L20369-601 which is N/A from HP part store.

You have to search and buy elsewhere

Extending the original HP warranty, even if it COULD be done, would serve no purpose as that does not include Accidental Damage -- which is what you did.

And, even if you do spend the money to buy another motherboard, it will be USED and will most likely come with no guarantee of working.

Pl;us, as @banhien has indicated, the license from your old motherboard does not carry over and you would have to purchase a new one.
