Hello!

I've had this Laptop for awhile now, and have been using it a lot for virtual schooling recently.

Long story short, I left my Laptop idle for 45-60mins, and when I came back, it had crashed. Now, when I boot it up, it says:

Boot Device not Found

Please install an operating system on your hatf disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)

F2      System Diagnostics

For more info please vist: (URL I already tried to no avail)

I upgraded the Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 about 3 months ago, but have had no issues until now.

After going into System Diagnostics, I ran a Hard Drive Test, and got:

SMART Test: Passed

Short DST: Failed

FAILURE ID: 0GBT9K-7B7AAC-MFPV6K-60RM03

I've already tried speaking with the bot, but it didn't work, won't connect me to an agent, and I'm pulling my hair out. I have more than a few projects on there I am waiting to turn in, and while my teachers have been understanding, my extension windows are rapidly closing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

You will need to replace the Hard Drive and reinstall the OS. You can use a 2.5" SATA3 HDD of your preferred brand or you could insert a cheap 2.5" SATA3 SSD.

Ex:

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-240GB-Solid-SA400S37-240G/dp/B01N5IB20Q/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords...

On page 44 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04763947

You can create a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 on it by downloading the Media Creation tool on another PC and creating the Drive

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

then let the computer completly update.

You can attach the old drive to the PC with a USB to SATA cable and try to recover your personal files from the old HDD.

Hope it helps,

David
