HP laptop startup problems

Hi

You have a couple of options as I see it please try these steps that might resolve your issue.

1) Once unit is powered on keep tapping F10 key Go to Diagnostics Run the Hard drive & Memory test on the unit and check if both are working fine. If not you need to replace the part which has failed.

2) If the Hard drive & Memory test passes the Try powering on the unit and keep tapping F11 key Check if you can do a System restore or Recovery from this Screen before doing recovery please back up your data as all data on the unit will be erased.

3) If this does not work then you might have to order a set of RCD from Either you can call HP technical support or click on the web link given below to order the part.

Order Recovery Discs for Windows 7, Vista, or XP

Let us know how it goes!

HP laptop startup problems

Hi,

Can you post back with the following.

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

3.  Do you get any error messages and if so, what are they?

Regards,

DP-K

HP laptop startup problems

Hi,

If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD.  Download the relevant ISO from the links below - your notebook is listed as coming with the 64bit version, so try this one first.

Windows 7 32bit

Windows 7 64bit

You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, insert the Rescue CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it.  Select Repair Your Computer and choose the Command Prompt.  When this loads, enter the following commands and hit enter after each one - include spaces as shown.

Bootrec.exe

bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup

c:

cd boot

attrib bcd -s -h -r

ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old

bootrec /RebuildBcd

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec /fixboot

Remove the Rescue CD and try rebooting the notebook.

Regards,

hi,

I have hp pavillion dm4 laptop. Laptop starts as hp quick web. When i click start windows, the startup fails with error " Fatal error C0190005 applying update operation 302 of 10381(_00000...) "

I took a back of boot files in dvd. But the laptop is not working with the dvd. The system restore software is in D drive. I dont have access to this drive now.
