Microsoft Office 2010 Product Key retrieval

Hello @KevP12

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting.

Since your HDD has failed, there is no specific way to retrieve the key as it is not stored as a file anywhere. It is stored in Windows registry in a special non-clear text way. No way to retrieve it (chances are too low), I am afraid.

Based on your computer's specifications, I can see your PC comes with Office 2010 preloaded *but* in order to activate full version you will need to purchase/use your own Office license key. Have you ever purchased a key or license  from Microsoft or from some reseller ? You will need to use this one to install Office 2010.

If this is not the case you have several options:

- use the free Office 2010 Starter edition - could be taken from here >> http://www.techspot.com/downloads/6255-microsoft-office-starter-2010.html   (limited free versions of Word/Excel 2010 only )

- use free Office online versions  > https://products.office.com/en-us/office-online/documents-spreadsheets-presentations-office-online

- purchase a new license for Office - for example Microsoft' Office 365 (2013/2016) subscription starting from 6.99 $ per month >> https://products.office.com/en-us/buy/office

Do you need assistance for the HDD replacement and for the Windows reinstallation ?

Hope this helps. Provide your update/feedback and let me know if you need further assistance, will be happy to help.
