Need to reset Windows password on Compaq Presario

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to reset the windows password on the Compaq Presario. I have forgotten the password and I don't know how to reinstall windows as I don't have any disks etc.

Please advise if anyone knows a way around this

On the link below are several password recovery tools.  Option 3 is often peferred as it simply removes the password altogether.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Use the link provided by DavidPK above. I have used Option 2-Offline NT many times with no problems on Windows 2000,XP and Vista machines.Just used it again last week as a matter of fact, I keep a disk with it handy since I do a lot of PC repairs. If someone drops off a PC and forgets to leave the password, I no longer bother trying to get it_just delete it with Ofline NT.

The 3rd option-PC Login Now, seems to work the same as Offline NT and may even be a bit easier for a novice to use. Offline NT isn't that hard, but you do have to read the dialogue to know what input is expected next.
