Windows 10

Will I lose the new Windows 10 download if I perform a system recovery. If so will it be required that I download Windows 10 after recovery and will it require a purchase of Windows 10 for download?

Windows 10

Hi @Scootervilleboy,

Welcome to the HP forums! It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community. I read your post regarding windows 10 and whether it could be downloaded and reinstalled  after a recovery.  It will be a genuine pleasure to assist you here.

If you’ve upgraded to windows 10 before July 29th, 2016, then you are still eligible to download it from the Microsoft website free of cost. You will not be charged for it. If you’ve paid for a licensed copy of windows 10 and installed it, you could still perform a recovery and reinstall windows 10 without a charge.

However, If you’ve upgraded to windows 10 for free after July 29th, 2016, then there will be a license fee that you will need to pay Microsoft for upgrading to windows 10 again.(Please note if you’ve  paid for it once you don’t have to pay for it again)

Thanks and have a terrific week ahead.
