So I have this laptop and like with all computers it needed to be reseted to factory settings. HP did not ship anything with the laptop other than how to turn it on. So after setting back to factory I needed to enter in the windows product code and guess what I dont have it cause everything was preloaded. So i call support which is first impossible to find a number for and once i connect they say sorry we dont store product codes. So my only option now is to buy a recovery disk that was never provided in the first place. So frustrating...............
I hope they have stopped this nonsense of not shipping product codes for their products........

Welcome to HP Support Forum. Microsoft stopped the stickers from Windows 8. The key is in the BIOS of your machine, please use the following tool to get it:
When run this tool, it produces a report, scroll down to Software Management section. Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 product key is in there.
You can also use the following tool to find out:
