Thank you once again, I think my usb is faulty. I dont get prompted for my usb when i run the tool. I've tried many times from the usb and from  my working pc. Im getting a new one and trying again

Hi:

 

If that is happening, the PC is not booting from the USB flash drive.

 

Have the flash drive in the PC's USB port.

 

If you have a dv6-6000 or dv6-7000, you need to plug the flash drive into one of the PC's USB 2 ports.

 

It won't work from a USB 3 port.

 

Tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.

 

Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive and press the Enter key.

 

The PC should now boot from the flash drive.

 

If the ESC key does nothing, then you should just tap the F9 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.

Hi Peter

Ive tried installing the download tool installer and it gives me 2 options....to repair or remove the installer. No matter what i do thats all i get, even with a new usb
