this is whet I get. This software is not supported on this system. Translation from italian, maybe not perfect.

is there any relation between this 2 problems? 

I bought this used laptop on ebay. I have other three 2170p, this is the first that I am not able to install this software for brightness control. everything is updated usin driver booster. which I use with all of my laptops.
