The letters are difficult to read. Meaning the letter "A" or the up arrow or function keys or even which one is the fn key. I pressed the fn key and number 5 key but there was no backlight. They are so light that they are hard to read during the daytime. But, at night, even with a direct, they are hard to read. I have to look directly down at the letters to see which letter is on which key. Thankfully, the F and J key have the raised area as a starting point to help. But, more visible key letters are needed. Any suggestions?

Sorry, but apart from using an external keyboard, there is nothing you can do about this.
Some of the HP laptops have keyboards with light grey lettering on dark grey keys, not black on white or white on black -- both of which are a lot easier to see.
Replacing a keyboard is not something you can do and it is very expensive -- often costing more than replacing the laptop.
So, if this is brand new, then consider replacing it with one that has a keyboard that is easier to read.
