HP Laptop 15-da1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to reverse the scroll on my touchpad and have exhausted my research looking through the forum.  I've noticed this is a common problem and many have solved by reloading drivers, navigating to a certain area of device manager, etc... I have tried all of the previous solutions, to no avail.  Every solution says to look for the Synaptics touchpad settings, but that option is not available to me.

Please help....I hate the current scrolling option.

@JMM1970 Welcome to HP Community!

Please provide the product number for your computer.

In the meantime, perform the below troubleshooting steps.

Open the Microsoft stores and search for Synaptics touchpad control panel. Install the application.

Then perform the below settings.

Two-Finger Scrolling allows you to scroll vertically or horizontally from anywhere on the TouchPad surface, not just the designated scrolling area. Use the following steps to enable and customize Two-Finger Scrolling.

  1. Search Windows for TouchPad.

From the results list click TouchPad settings.

  1. Click Additional settings.

  1. Open the TouchPad or ClickPad Settings.

  1. Two-Finger Scrolling is located under MultiFinger Gestures. If you do not see Two-Finger Scrolling, click the Arrow icon https://support.hp.com/document/attachments/images/414/c04100533.jpgto the left of the MultiFinger Gestures checkbox.
  2. Two-Finger Scrolling. If the checkbox next to Two-Finger Scrolling does not contain a checkmark, click the checkbox until a checkmark displays to enable scrolling.

  1. Click the Settings icon https://support.hp.com/document/attachments/images/771/c04100527.jpgto adjust scrolling settings. You can make the following adjustments:
    • Scrolling speed - Adjusts the speed of scrolling.
    • Enable vertical scrolling - Allows scrolling by sliding your fingers up or down on the touchpad.
    • Enable horizontal scrolling - Allows scrolling by sliding your fingers left or right on the touchpad.
    • Enable reverse scrolling direction - Changes the direction of scrolling. (You need to verify what the customer settings are and change it accordingly.)
    • Enable EdgeMotion when scrolling - Continues scrolling when your fingers reach the edge of the touchpad.
    • Enable Coasting - Continues scrolling after you lift your fingers off the touchpad.

  1. Click the Close button to return to the properties screen.
  2. Click the Apply button to apply your changes, and then select OK to exit the properties screen.
