OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-c0000 (343L2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

The screen of my omen pauses for a few seconds and then catches up.  Sound and (as far as I know) background processes continue as normal.  I have followed all on line suggestions - restore bios, Virus detect etc and I have bought a cooler for the omen to sit on but still the screen pauses.   Any suggestions?

Mike

Hi @kallithea

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing screen pausing-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

  • May I know from when are you facing this issue?
  • Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?
  • May I know if it happens while using any particular application?

Let's try these steps:

  • On your, Key Board press Windows key + X
  • Press M to open Device Manager
  • Expand Display adapters
  • Right-click on the current display adapter
  • Click Properties
  • Click on the Driver tab
  • Click on Rollback driver if the option is available.

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello @kallithea

(1) Connect an external monitor to the [ hdmi ] port and check if both monitors fail or only the notebook screen.

(2) Service is required for 2A) and 2B)

2A) Only the notebook screen fails, the GPU (graphic) is ok but the screen and cable must be checked.

2B) If both screens fail, the GPU (graphic) must be checked.

-> Still HP warranty -> contact HP Support

-> No HP Warranty -> HP could do a (paid) repair

-> You should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

best regards

Many thanks for the replies.

I found Norton mining bitcoins in the background using the video card CPU.  I have stopped this and so far have not had a problem with the screen pausing.
