Spectre 15 inch 360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the incredibly annoying situation where the rotation lock is greyed out. Obviously therefore the laptop also will not automatically move to tablet mode. I have tried going into the regedit and making sure settings are correct at 0 and 1 through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation. I have uploaded all latest drivers and software. When I go into system/settings/tablet mode it has even removed the statement option " make windows more touch friendly when using your device as a tablet"

Please please help!!!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?

If Rotation Lock is greyed out, you might want to try disconnecting your keyboard. Check if this resolves the issue.
To do that, follow these steps:

  1. Open Device Manager and locate your display adapter driver.
  2. Right-click it and choose Update Driver Software.
  3. Choose one of the options and follow the instructions.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I think it was probably after a windows update. I have tried disabling keyboard with no luck.

Thank you for posting back.

The last thing I can suggest trying to restore the computer back to the factory settings. Performing an HP system recovery (Windows ) While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
