Hi All,

I've recently noticed that the display on my webcam has rounded/shaded borders. I have not made any setting changes and it seems to have literally happened overnight. Any ideas how i can resolve this?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried closing and reopening the webcam app?
  • Have you tried with different webcam app such as Skype, Hangout, Zoom?
  • Did you try cleaning the webcam lens?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating)

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thank you for posting back.

Let's perform Microsoft System Restore which returns your computer to the files and settings from the restore point. Your personal files and documents are not affected.

You can also undo a System Restore if the restore does not resolve the issue or if the issue becomes worse.

Hi,

Unfortunately, system restore was not enabled on my machine. I have now enabled it but the restore point is for the 17/09/2020 which is a point in time which the issue has already been present. Not sure what other options i may have. Please advise.

To resolve this issue, reinstall the original HP Webcam-101 or Microsoft USB Video Device driver.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.

  2. Double-click Imaging Devices to expand the list of webcam drivers.

  3. If the HP Webcam-101 or Microsoft USB Video Device is listed, right-click the driver and select Update Driver Software and follow the on-screen instructions.

  4. Restart your computer, and open your webcam software to see if the problem is resolved.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
