So basically my HP will connect to WiFi and I'm able to access my browser and all but when I try to use something like the app store for example it displays an error message saying something along the lines that I cannot connect. I'm afraid I'm missing out on automatic updates because of this. There's also the limited access icon near my connection.

What do you subscribe to- cable, DSL, satellite?
Are you using a separate modem/router or all in one?
Most of the time the limited access error can be fixed simply by rebooting everything. But it needs to be done in a certain order.
Turn off everything- computers, router, modem and unplug all the cables to the modem and router, including power cords.
Wait 5 minutes to drain all the remaining electric in the capacitors.
Plug only the wires and power cord to the modem only and let it fully reboot.
Then do the same for the router, let if fully boot up.
If using an All in One router/modem combo, do the same thing only you have one box to deal with rather than two.
Then turn on the computer.
Do you still get the issue?
