error message: product information not valid

HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

When I turn on my laptop I get the message
Product Information not valid - 'The Following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid

System Board (00A)  - System Board CT Number

ENTER - Continue Startup

I've had this laptop for several months and this just started yesterday.  What does this mean? Would something have malfunctioned to cause this message to start after several months?

Has there been a recent BIOS update done on the laptop?
