Solved!

Bios Automatic Update

HP Recommended

Hi

I bought a new HP Pavilion Laptop last week and when i switched it on last night it went straight into updating the BIOS.  I never asked it to update it.  Should it be updating by BIOS automatically?

It sounds as if you have automatic updating enabled, probably in the HP Support Assistant.  I recommend that you check the settings and change them so it does not happen again.

I prefer to have update utilities notify me of update opportunities, but prefer to check them before bothering to download and install them. That leaves the update process of my device(s) in my control.

I also had this happen but I didn't stop it. During the update the fan ran very fast and I hear a click. Laptop went dead. No power or lights now. Have tried the hard start to no avail. Is my laptop dead now? Any help would be appreciated as the warrant has expired.
