Just got this laptop, and its having issues. Under the battery it says its a 1167dx, but bios/system info states its a G6 1028sr. It has the AMD 1.8 quad core like the G7 should as well as the radeon HD-4200.
Only found the issue chasing down a black screen issue. Sometimes it will just flip to a black screeen, and freeze. Resulting in having to be powered down. Fresh install of windows has not fixed the issue. Went directly to AMD for graphics drivers and control catylst. Did a bios update to the latest version provided on the 1167dx support site, and it still has the wrong information as well as black screening when playing video. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Install the AMD graphics driver from the HP website, rather than directly from AMD to see if that resolves the issue. The chipset drivers are also in the graphics software package.
To rollback the BIOS, use the HP PC UEFI Hardware Diagnostics firmware that was delivered with your notebook.
Connect the power adapter before beginning the following procedure!
Press the power button and immediately begin tapping the F2 key.
That should invoke the PC UEFI HardWare Diagnostics menu.
Choose Firmware Management.
At the bottom of the following menu you should see Rollback BIOS.
Click on it and let it remove the current BIOS and flash the previous BIOS to the CMOS chip.
Do not interrupt it or turn off the notebook until it has completed the task!
If you are only having a black screen while playing videos from Youtube, then the issue is unlikely to be related to the BIOS. Instead try updating the Flash Player. I suggest trying another browser if you are having the issue in a particular browser, perhaps Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer 11. I generally use the Google browser, but also keep Firefox and Internet Explorer shortcuts available on my Windows desktop, just in case of video or browser display issues like this.
