my notebook makes a clicking now. not on the speakers. then i get a message from hp that i need to download an operating system. when thisclicking is occurring I can't do anything with my notebook except shut it off.

Sounds like a bad hard drive. Can we have the model number? How old is it?

model number 15-af131dx less thsn s year old.

Less than a year old it is still under warranty and if it is a bad hard drive HP will obviously repair for free. Best I can do is walk you through self-help repair. What country are you in?
